FAMILY-FRIENDLYCIRQUE DE LA SYMPHONIEPROGRAM January 2010 Performance to Generate Scholarship Funds from THCC Ticket Sales The Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation are teaming up to raise funds for education. The TSO has reserved seats for the Saturday, January 30, 2010 7:30 pm Tucson Music Hall performance of the TSO Pops! family-friendly program, Cirque de la Symphonie, at a special discounted price. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will sell the tickets at full price with proceeds going to the Chamber Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $57.00 each. Reserve your tickets through the THCC website or by phone, (520) 620-0005. Tickets must be purchased by January 1, 2009. The Tucson Music Hall will become the Big Top when Cirque de la Symphonie fills the stage with high-flying action and amusing circus antics. Audiences will be amazed by their juggling mastery and acrobatic prowess. Aerial artists will soar through the air, displaying natural strength and artistic expression. The grace, artistry, and color is all set to music of Tchaikovsky, Ravel, John Williams, and more - performed by the TSO. The January 30 performance is one of three TSO Pops! Cirque de la Symphonie performances. The others are Friday, January 29 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, January 31 at 2:00 pm at the Tucson Music Hall. The Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation scholarships are available to students attending any accredited university, college or vocational/trade school located in the state of Arizona. Scholarships start at $1,000 based on financial need. Applicants are evaluated on both quantitative and subjective criteria including academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, financial need and student essays. The Cirque de la Symphonie program follows the TSO’s partnership with the MTCVB’s Vamos a Tucson to raise funds for Fundacion Mexico in the 2008/09 season. The TSO reserved discounted tickets to the Classic Series performance, Latin Flavor with The Romeros in March, 2009 and the Fundacion sold them at full value with the proceeds going to its Scholarship fund. Susan Franano, Executive Director of the TSO, said, “This event brings together three of the TSO’s top priorities—music education, families and community. The TSO has always been committed to serving all of Tucson and southern Arizona communities with performances and orchestral music education programs of the highest caliber.
